Stable, permanent funding for our award-winning library
On November 6, 2012, 63% of Multnomah County voters approved Measure 26-143, creating our first library district. This dedicated funding source will restore hours and services, and will protect our library for generations to come.
The new library district will replace the temporary levy and county general fund contributions. It creates a single, reliable source of funding for Multnomah County Library. A library district is not a new method of funding libraries. In fact, there are 25 library districts in Oregon and hundreds more across the country.
The library will provide updated information about the library district transition in the weeks and months to come. Extended hours began on July 1, 2013. Visit the library's website for more information.
