Multnomah County Library circulation rates highest in the nation for patron usage

For the eighth year in a row, the Multnomah County Library in Portland had the highest circulation in the nation last year for libraries serving less than 1 million residents, the library announced today.
The circulation of 22.7 million items in 2009 was an average of 31 items checked out or renewed for every person in the county, which has a population of about 700,000.
The figures were released by the Public Library Association with its 2010 Public Library Data Service Statistical Report, which was published at the end of June to coincide with the association's annual meeting. Read more>> |
