Mission

The Library Foundation raises and manages funds to assure a great library that reaches and serves all people in Multnomah County. Today, Multnomah County Library has the highest circulation of any library its size in the nation and is nationally known for its pioneering focus on children's literacy.

Vision

The Library Foundation's vision is that every person builds a relationship with learning and libraries that lasts a lifetime. At our library, this relationship extends reading throughout life, creating a place where everyone–from infants to seniors–can experience generations of wisdom, ideas, questions, struggles, and passions.

Our Commitment

A strong public library system is the very foundation upon which a community can build for the future. It supports all other forms of activity from the arts to a thriving economy, from education to public affairs, from science to cultural engagement.

Our library is built on a solid base of public funding, along with private support. The Library Foundation raises money from many sources, complementing the commitment the public has made and working to promote greater awareness of our library's valuable contributions.
